Benefits of Dental Implants – Is it worth choosing It? (Part 2)

There are major benefits of dental implants you may not know about it

In the first part of the article, we talked about the benefits of dental implants in general, suggesting that this is a much better solution to replace missing teeth than a traditional removable prosthesis. We also talked about the benefits of dental implants over conventional prostheses. Finally, we learned a lot about two-phase implants and implantation methods. In this section, we will focus on one-phase immediate-loading implants.

When we talk about the benefits of dental implants and compare the two common implantation methods, we find almost as much difference as between implantation and traditional removable dentures. Although both types of implants serve the same purpose in terms of end-use, there are huge differences between the two in terms of implants and implantation methods.

In the first part, we talked in detail about the advantages of two-phase implants over traditional removable dentures, now let’s take a look at the one-phase immediate-loading implants. These implants have a number of advantages that are not typical of either the removable prosthesis or two-phase implants-based dentures. Let’s look at some of these.

Perhaps the biggest advantage of single-phase implants is that the dentures made with these implants are completed in a very short time. An oral rehabilitation, which consists of complete lower and upper dentures, only needs to appear 3-4 times in the dental office. The 4th time is just for checking and making minor refinements and adjustments if needed.

Another noteworthy advantage of a single-phase implant is that it can also be used in patients for whom a two-phase implant is out of the question due to poor bone quality or significant bone deficiency. Immediate loading implants are designed to be able firmly to secure the denture in case of bone deficiency too. Another important difference is that single-phase implants are made in many different shapes and forms so that the most suitable one for the respective bone condition can be chosen.

Among the benefits of dental implants (one-phase), it needs to be mentioned the implantation itself too. While two-phase implant implantation means a more serious oral surgery, the one-phase implantation is much easier and much simpler. For example, it is not necessary to incised the entire gum, implant the so-called healing screws, then re-suture the incised gum. And when the 3 to 6 month of ossification time is up, the gum needs to be incised again, remove the healing-screws to continue the implantation process.

In this two-part article, we briefly summarized the benefits of dental implants comparing the two main teeth replacement methods as traditional adhesive dentures and implant-fixed dentures. We have demonstrated with several examples of what huge differences there are between the two types of dentures in favor of implants.

The benefits of dental implants have their own disadvantage, which has not been discussed so far, and this is the price, which is relatively high. Relatively, because if we take into consideration the problems with adhesive dentures and the extra costs, we realize that they are not so expensive … What you save on the cost of implant dentures, you pay for the costs of going to the dentist repeatedly over time. All in all, the value of money for implant dentures is much better!
